All cultures create art out of what they have at hand. I continue in this tradition, using what is used, what is discarded, and what needs to be recycled into works of art. In addition to creating my own artwork, I guide groups of children in examining the materials their world is made of, learning some science behind those materials and then creating their own artistic expressions.
I seek to promote reuse of materials by engaging community groups in collaborative works of art.
Art
made with reuse and recycling in mind
I work with groups that are interested in exploring the materials they find around them. As an Artist in the Classroom for the Kalamazoo Arts Integration Initiative I help teachers integrate the arts into other curriculum areas.
I am available to work with groups on projects and to give advice on art using recycled materials.
My big dream is to have a creative reuse art center in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
